Big Girls Don’t Cry … and why should they? So, I never saw Fergie at The Estate’s after concert party Friday night. But, it’s all good. I did see – and hear – the rest of the Black Eyed Peas and LMFAO, another super-hot rap and rock band. They opened for the Black Eyed Peas concert, held earlier at the Boston Garden.
LMFAO appeared at midnight. Later — or early in the morning — Will. i. am, apl. de. ap, and Taboo of the Peas popped into the Estate and performed a few of favorites. The Estate is Boston’s oh-so-trendy-and-award-winning night spot, evidenced by the wall-to-wall guests, an eye-rocking light show and of course, by the loud loud loud music. (My aged ears are still ringing.)
The young crowd dazzled, rocked and sang as performers from each group sang live to recorded discs spun by members of LMFAO and the Peas.
LMFAO, readied the crowd with a 45-minute impromptu concert that just blew the house down and probably the rest of the neighborhood too. When Redfoo Gordy (son of Berry Gordy of Motown fame) yelled, “Party People in the House,” throngs yelled back and sang – or yelled.
The after party, sponsored by Blackberry and Bacardi, started at 10 p.m., but didn’t crank into gear until after 11. Erin Kelly, a Boston University Fine Arts student and a former schoolmate of LA-based LMFAO members, said this is where college and post college kids rock away the week day blues and welcome the weekend.
Admittedly, this old travelgirl was there to see Fergie and Will. i. am, although I was thrilled to see the rest of the Peas and LMFAO. And I didn’t mind trying Bacardi’s new signature V.I.Pea’s drink. The company created the cocktail for the Black Eyed Peas The E.N.D. World Tour 2010 (Energy Never Dies).
Surprisingly (and those who know me will certainly be surprised) I loved the drink. And, while I was waiting for the after party to really start Blackberry reps told me about a new private messaging system called, Blackberry BBMS.
So, I’m almost deaf, but happy. I relived a little youth, tried a new drink and will put a new app on my Blackberry.
It’s all good.
